PS5 Basic support added to LLVM/Clang toolchain and compiler

PlayStation scene developer bigboss (psxdev) points out that basic PS5 support has been added to the popular LLVM Toolchain . This could pave the way to an open source toolchain/SDK for the PS5 scene. What is LLVM LLVM is a set of compiler and toolchain technologies, which can be used to develop a front end for any programming language and a back end for any instruction set architecture. LLVM is designed around a language-independent intermediate representation (IR) that serves as a portable, high-level assembly language that can be optimized with a variety of transformations over multiple passes One of the most popular components of LLVM is probably clang, a C/C++ compiler. PS5 File Dumping utility + other samples for BD-JB Released

Developer John Tornblom has been maintaining a small repository of utility code for the PS5 BD-JB exploits. He recently added a File Dumping utility, for those of you who have all the necessary tools (and an exploitable PS5) and want to try. This isn’t vastly different from what psxdev has released a few weeks ago, but it’s nice to have options. BDJ-SDK – What’s in there The repository contains currently 3 samples, that you can compile into isos, ready to be burned (you will need a Blu-Ray Burner, and some Blu-Ray discs, preferably rewriteable a.k.a. First of all, if your PS4 is not running firmware 9.00, you might want to upgrade it to that firmware. Note: if you’re on firmware 9.03 or higher, you can’t go back to 9.00 and you will not be able to run the Jailbreak. So be careful not to update to 9.03 by mistake 1. PS4/PS5 security: hacker TheFloW gets another $10’000 bounty from PlayStation. Why we think it matters

A few days ago, PlayStation’s account on HackerOne displayed a new awarded bounty, once again to hacker extraordinaire TheFloW, and once again for one of the top amounts in that bounty program: $10’000. The news is doing the rounds on hacking scene websites. It’s the second bounty awarded to TheFloW by PlayStation in less than 2 weeks, and for an amount that points to a critical security flow in either the PS4, the PS5, or both. Two weeks ago, the hacker had been awarded $20’000 for another vulnerability disclosure. PlayStation’s bounty program on HackerOne – a blessing in disguise for the hacking scene? In total, more than $250’000 have been awarded through this bounty program since its launch about 2 years ago (that’s not counting some of the reports which might have undisclosed amounts), with a significant share of that ($60’000 so far) awarded to TheFloW. PS5 Jailbreak - The Status in 2022

PS5 Jailbreak 2022 Status Here are some of the key things that happened over the past few months, around PS5 security: We’ve had proof last year from hacking group Fail0verflow and PlayStation scene veteran TheFloW that the console can indeed be fully hacked. We’ve also seen a webkit exploit work on the PS5, up to firmware 4.03 included, and a PS5 usermode ROP toolchain consequently released. ZNullPtr has also recently confirmed he (and possibly Chendochap) has still been working on exploiting the PS5. PlayStation have also recently awarded a $20’000 exploit bounty to TheFloW, possibly for the PS5 exploit he’s mentioned last year. All of these are “promising” but are not any guarantee at this point. The only “usable” tool at your disposal, whether you are a tinkerer who wants to dive into PS5 security, or an end user, is the usermode ROP toolchain, provided your PS5 is on firmware 4.03 or lower.
