PS4 Emulator: GPCS4 0.1.0 Released

More than 2 years after the last release, Developer Inori (@InoriAsuka) has pushed a new update for PS4 Emulator GPCS4. This new 0.1.0 release introduces a virtual CPU and a huge refactor for the graphics part. This is a “source code only” release so you’ll have to compile it yourself unless you find a good soul to do it for you. Alternatively, the binary for the previous release is also available on the project page.

What is GPCS4

GPCS4 is an experimental PS4 Emulator for Windows. Although it got some good early successes running commercial games, the project hadn’t seen any release in more than two years.

This new release, after such a long hiatus, might feel like a “step backward” as a lot of the code has apparently been refactored. Nevertheless, it’s good to see some PS4 emulators showing up. Hopefully projects such as GPCS4 will give some healthy competition to the current “best of class”, Spine PS4.

Head over to the project’s release page.

You can either download the previous version (“We are Doomed”) if you want a binary, or the sources for the latest version, that you’ll have to compile on your own.
To run or develop GPCS4, a CPU supporting AVX instruction set as well as a graphics card supporting Vulkan 1.3 are required.
Currently, only Windows build is supported.
